The Federation of Old Cornwall Societies records with respect and affection the passing of Sidney John Neale, Map Pedherwyn a’n Cleth, a man whose life was deeply rooted in the places, people, and heritage of North Petherwin and Launceston.
In Memoriam: Raymond Keith Harrison
It is with deep sadness that we share the news that Raymond Keith “Keith” Harrison, President of Madron Old Cornwall Society passed away recently at Treliske hospital. His involvement in the Old Cornwall movement stretched far beyond Madron: he was a past Chairman and committee member of St Buryan Old Cornwall Society, a member of Hayle OCS, St Just OCS, St Penzance OCS, and a familiar and welcome guest lecturer to numerous Cornish societies and institutes.

The Federation were deeply saddened to hear of the recent death of our friend Liz Carne. She was the former President of Newquay Old Cornwall Society, and served the Society with dedication and distinction for many years.

We are deeply saddened by the passing of our friend and committee member, Dave Crewes. Dave served for several years as Treasurer of the St Columb Old Cornwall Society, carrying out the role with dedication right up until this year.
Passing of Dr Andy Jones, Cornwall Archaeological Society
We were saddened to hear of the passing of Dr Andy Jones of the Cornwall Archaeological Society last week. Pete Herring, President of the Cornwall Archaeological Society, writes:
Many of you will have known Andy and his gentle, kind manner personally. Or you may have appreciated his driving passion for examining prehistoric life, not just in Cornwall but throughout the South-West, and much further afield. You may have read his remarkable report on the Whitehorse Hill cist, high on the northern downs of Dartmoor, and his numerous other ground-breaking publications.
Perhaps you joined one of his exciting CAS investigations: field walking for flints in cliff-top fields or excavating iconic sites, like Trethevy Quoit. You may have enjoyed hearing talks given by either Andy himself or by one of the many high-profile speakers Andy invited to talk to CAS, using his extensive academic contacts.
His loss will be felt widely, throughout Cornwall and far beyond.
Our thoughts are with Andy’s family, with Anna, Freya and Oscar.
