With its richly carved west doorway and flanking towers\, is perhaps the most important survival of Norman church architecture in Cornwall. Its dating and parallels will be considered. Made 6 feet wider than the nave\, windows were badged by local gentry and Bishop Lacy of Exeter\, 1420-55. Work may have begun in the 1420s\, but no specifically Perpendicular style piers were introduced\, as the south clerestory of the Norman church was retained in contrast to Cornwall’s many Perpendicular churches. The introduction of the large 1520s window in the south chapel and the rood loft\, and the 1802 demolition and replacement of the Norman north aisle will also be considered.\n3.00pm Q&A \n3.15pm Dr Garry Tregidga: ‘Remembering St Germans through time’\nHow St Germans was subsequently remembered.
