DESCRIPTION:This walk will start at Madron Green\, which is the parking area near the lynch gate of the church and Madron Daniel School. Val Thomas will lead this walk which will touch upon the history of the area including the church and churchyard\, the Memorial Gardens\, Memorial House\, Landithy Hall and the King William 4th pub etc. There is also a very interesting hidden history involving the Knights Hospitalier of St John which will be explored. Following this part of the talk we will car share to Madron Baptistry and talk about the history of the chapel and well. It is difficult to time this talk but I estimate about 2 hours. DESCRIPTION: Come and hear the history of the village which recent excavations show dates back at least 6\,000 years\, see the iconic Chapel perched 80 feet up on the rock\, hear of tin streaming\, tin mining\, china clay working and brick making\, our unique streams and the old road to Bodmin. Distance about 3 miles\, time around 1 ½ hours\, walk difficulty easy to moderate\, no mud so good walking shoes will suffice. Walking on quiet lanes and hard sand footpaths. One half mile long gentle uphill gradient. \nMeet at the Roche Social and Sports Club car park by kind permission of the Parish Council. The Social Club is at the start of Trezaise Road just along from Roche Parish Church. DESCRIPTION:At 1100hrs on Friday 27th June the Thomas Flamank Commemoration will take place at Bodmin. \nIt takes place at the Flamank Plaque on Bodmin Town Wall\, located below a modern Cornish Cross at the junction of Higher Bore Street and Dennison Road. \nEveryone gathers together\, with banners and flags. Speeches and prayers are given\, plus some singing. Three wreaths are hung on the wall\, before dispersal. \nThe event is organised by Androw Hawke of the Cornish Nationalist Party. Bodmin Old Cornwall Society are regular participants in the event.
