DESCRIPTION:Leaders– Brian Oldham and Rod Sheaf– Every Building Tells a Story (Bilingual Walk). \nAs a part of both the Festival of Walks (www.kernowgoth.org) and the Speak Cornish Week\n(www.speakcornish.com) a circular walk of under one mile around Liskeard town centre will be hosted by\nBard of the Gorsedh Kernow and Cornish speaker Rod Sheaf and Liskeard Old Cornwall Society President\nBrian Oldham. \nMeet at the West Street end of Westbourne Car Park. As the route is mainly along pavements it is\nwheelchair and pushchair friendly and will last about two hours\, but with many options for an earlier exit\nalong the way. There is one short uphill section\, Pike Street\, and many stops to hear stories\, in both\nCornish and English\, behind some of Liskeard’s buildings. \nNumbers are restricted so booking is essential\, by emailing Brian Oldham at contactbrian@btinternet.com.

DESCRIPTION:Leader – Robin Knight. \nAn evening Walk around Treneere Manor house\, now part of Penwith College\, built in 1770 it is Grade II listed. The extensive grounds are now much reduced\, some being part of the Treneere housing estate and some the grounds of Penwith College. A walk around the village of Roche and out through Tregonhay\, Carbis and Trezaise. \nCome and hear the history of the village which recent excavations show dates back at least 6\,000 years\, see the iconic Chapel perched 80 feet up on the rock\, hear of tin streaming\, tin mining\, china clay working and brick making\, our unique streams and the old road to Bodmin. Distance about 3 miles\, time around 1 ½ hours\, walk difficulty easy to moderate\, no mud so good walking shoes will suffice. Walking on quiet lanes and hard sand footpaths. One half mile long gentle uphill gradient. \nMeet at the Roche Social and Sports Club car park by kind permission of the Parish Council. DESCRIPTION:S. E. Cornwall Heritage Day  – St John Nr Millbrook  – Sunday 30th June 2024  – 1000hrs  – 1500hrs\n\nSt John will be the location for our second Heritage Day of the year. It will be a fantastic day of music\, song\, and Cornish Dialect. There will be stalls and displays from local OCSs and history groups. Plenty of time has been allowed for a “dish -o-tay” and a drop of saffron cake\, not to mention the pasties for lunch\, so please come along and enjoy a good yarn with friends. All welcome.\n\nOur heritage days are a joint venture with the Institute of Cornish Studies\, and have been funded by Cornwall Council under a Pathways to Intangible Cultural Heritage grant. During the day we will be exploring the pronunciation of Cornish place-names\, and our Dialect Recorder\, Chris Trevena will be capturing Cornish Dialect for inclusion in our Cornish Voices Dialect Project.
