Chrissie was a Geologist advising throughout the building of the tunnel and beyond.

Saltash Old Cornwall Society (SOCS) announces with great pleasure that Chrissie Le Marchant will be our next speaker on Monday October 27th at St Nicholas and St Faith Church Rooms. The meeting opens at 7pm for short business, followed by tea/coffee/biscuits. Chrissie’s talk will be about the building of Saltash Tunnel.

Chrissie was the Geologist for the build duration and for a few months afterwards… the picture (taken for the WMN) is her in 1988 just before the opening. Everyone is welcome to the meeting and indeed, to Chrissie’s interesting talk. Visitors’ entry fee is just £2.50 which includes the light refreshments.
