Cornish Folklore & Legends

For lovers of Celtic mythology and legend Cornwall is rich in its folk traditions. Cornish people have since time immemorial told stories of giants, mermaids and small folk such as bucca’s and piskies as well as other goolies and ghosts. As time progressed legends of King Arthur would emerge, not necessarily from Cornwall at all, as well as stories of wreckers and smugglers.

Here we start to cover some of these as well as sharing sources and origins. We are also pleased to share snippets from our members collected over many decades from all parts of Cornwall. Commencing this series is one of the most popular and well known 'The Mermaid of Zennor'.
