Tales of the Tides – Film & Song: “Ferry Tales” Film + Burration Boys – Shanty & Song

October 16 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Please join us for a wonderful evening of film and song.

We will be showing “Ferry Tales by Gerald Truscott”, filmed in 1994 and researched, scripted and produced by Peter J Wildin, Iris Solutions. Introduced by John Hooper and augmented with a brief account of Saltash Ferries from 1832 to 1961 by Sir Vernon Seccombe. Traditionally the Waterside community of Saltash made its living from the River Tamar, the world in which Gerald grew up. Gerald was a seasoned story teller whose stories are threaded with sayings and empathies from the times.

The evening will be “bookended” by the Burraton Boys singing a selection of shanties, maritime songs, and Cornish material.

Formed in 2014 by members of the Burraton Male Choir, The Burraton Boys have grown into one of South East Cornwall’s most versatile and heartfelt singing groups. Beginning with Cornish and sea songs, their repertoire has blossomed over the years to include folk music, popular favourites, and both traditional and alternative Christmas pieces. Each year they raise thousands of pounds for charity.

A welcoming community event as part of Tales of the Tides: Voices of the Sea.
