Talk: The Bicentenary of the Cornish Miners in Mexico – Sharron Schwartz
13/09/2024 @ 7:30 pm - 8:30 pm

It was in 1824 that the first contingent of miners went out at the invitation of the Mexican government to revive the silver mines in the then newly independent country. Many families in Gwennap, Redruth and Camborne and nearby areas have ancestors who were a part of this diaspora.
Sharron has researched the Cornish in Latin America and has written many books and articles on this. She lives now in Ireland, but has volunteered a talk to us, so this is a rare opportunity to hear her speak.
We will be inviting other Old Cornwall Societies to come along and expect a good number to be in attendance at Wesley, as usual.
