Par Old Cornwall Society organised 2 walks on Saturday 22nd June for the Federation Summer Walking Festival, numbers were limited to 20 for each walk & were fully booked with a waiting list hoping for cancellations.
Walkers left from The Bishop Gott Memorial Hall in Par, the morning one featured the Industrial Heritage of the area & was led by Angie Bailey with historical content written by Jill Hore. The afternoon walk traced the tidal estuary around Par, this was led & researched by Chris Michel, who also produced an informative display of maps & interesting facts for all to see in the Hall. There were also several albums of photographs from our archives featuring places & buildings seen on both walks.
Everyone enjoyed their pasty lunch, cream tea & camaraderie, several expressed their intention to join our Society in September. We were delighted that a busy Nev Meek was able to be with us before going on to the St Columb Midsummer Bonfire event, also a member of Penzance OCS, a long day out for him!
