Yeghes! Success at Tremogh Campus

On Sunday 6th July, in association with the Institute of Cornish Studies, and Lore & Piece, the Federation ran a very successful archaeology open day at the Penryn Campus of the University of Exeter. This was part of the Festival of Archaeology.

There were stalls, workshops, demonstrations, talks, and performances. The stalls included those from a range of archaeological organisations including our friends at the Cornwall Archaeological Society, and Meneage Archaeology Group. It was brilliant to see the Penryn & Falmouth OCS present to promote their work.

The performances included music from “Kres”, and stories from the Piskie Trap, as well as a range of short talks. The flint knapping demonstration was brilliant, as were the workshops and activities for children. It was brilliant to see the Federation’s Place-name officer, Jan Edmondson present with a Cornish language place-name activity to engage everyone in our language and sense of place.

The Federation’s bookstall proved popular, and thanks are due to all those who helped out, participated and attended; particularly to our Archaeology Officer, Laura Miucci for making all of the arrangements. We are already planning for next year!
