In the early hours of 22nd April 1941, 6 members of the Auxiliary Fire Service from Saltash were working to extinguish fires during the Plymouth Blitz when their vehicle hit an unexploded bomb and they were all killed. Their gravesite in Saltash is now in much need of attention.

Saltash OCS have joined forces with a former son of Saltash and ex Devon & Cornwall police officer, Neil Stanlake, to raise funds to have the site restored. New gravestones, a story board, and service of remembrance are planned.
