The February meeting of the Hayle Old Cornwall Society included a visual talk from new President Jonathan Warner. All but one of the images shown were from his own Postcard and Photo collection of old images of villages around Hayle, including Lelant, St Erth, Canonstown, Angarrack and Connor Downs. Many of the images dated back to the early 1900s, with one dating as far back as 1880. Interspersed with the older images were a few ‘Now’ images, to provide a comparison, highlighting changes over the years.
The meeting had 74 in attendance and amongst the audience Hayle OCS were delighted to welcome Federation President Nev Meek. Nev kindly took time to give the attendees an overview of the work undertaken by the Federation and other linked groups.
The evening was well received and, as usual, was followed by Tea, Coffee and cakes.
