Red Lion… a palace of time…

“Dedicated to Beth Barker and her late husband, John, whose honeymoon this poem describes, and to their daughter Sue, who brought them along for the ride when we got married…” (Author’s introduction….)  The richly imaginative poem, littered with local historical references,  takes us from west Cornwall, through Camborne and Redruth to Truro and the Red Lion Inn of Truro, of clearly-treasured memory  – “no Western marriage would be complete/Without a Red Lion wedding night/To ease a dancing foxtrot’s smiling feet/and set a course on Trurra’s morning tide/To a palace of time, where memories preside.”  This is but one poem, and not long, but the A5 booklet is enhanced by plentiful photos of the Red Lion’s setting, and its exterior and interior.
