Penzance Centenary Celebrated In Style

On Tuesday 17 March, Penzance Old Cornwall Society celebrated its Centenary with a memorable evening at the historic Union Hotel. The occasion brought together members, friends, and dignitaries to honour a hundred years of dedication to preserving and promoting the heritage of Penzance and the wider Cornish story.

Guests enjoyed a beautifully curated exhibition of historic artefacts, showcasing the Society’s rich legacy. Two excellent talks followed: one exploring the history of the Society’s banner, and another tracing the development and achievements of Penzance OCS over the past century. Both were warmly received and sparked lively conversation.

The celebrations continued with buffet refreshments and the chance to share memories and fellowship. Among those attending were the Mayor of Penzance and representatives from neighbouring Old Cornwall Societies, reflecting the strong bonds within the movement.

It was a truly lovely evening—fitting for such a significant milestone—and a proud moment for all involved in carrying the traditions of Penzance forward into the next hundred years.
