Federation at CHT’s ‘Awenek’ Festival

The Federation enjoyed a highly successful Arwenek, and it was a pleasure to support our friends at the Cornwall Heritage Trust.

On Saturday 12th September the CHT held their annual heritage festival, Arwenek, at Enys near Penryn. The Federation had a great presence this year, with strong public engagement and a warm, welcoming atmosphere throughout. Thanks to the combined efforts of volunteers, the Federation’s presence was both visually striking and deeply informative.

Katrina Griffiths’ display was a particular highlight. Her meticulously prepared boards, drew sustained interest from visitors. Many took time to explore the stories behind the Old Cornwall banners, and several children and adults designed their own. Her badge‑making activity proved exceptionally popular, with over 100 badges created during the day. The creativity and care she brought to the event were widely admired.

The Federation bookstall was also busy, with sales approaching £180 and many visitors taking away copies of the Federation leaflet. Being indoors made for a comfortable and steady flow of engagement, and the fine weather ensured good numbers both inside and out.

Our engagement demonstrated the renewed energy within the Federation. The contributions of many volunteers, alongside Katrina’s outstanding creative input, reflect a growing momentum across our activities. Their commitment, combined with the wider support of members, continues to strengthen the Federation’s presence at public events and reinforces our shared mission to safeguard and celebrate Cornwall’s heritage.Meur ras to everyone involved.
