FOCS Festival of Walks 2024


Following the success of 2023 we have now extended our Walks Festival to two weeks.

The OCSs across Cornwall have done a fantastic job in putting on a vast array of interesting walks – just look at this lot: –


Monday 17th 10am – Cury, White Cross, and Cury Churchtown.
Monday 17th 9.30am –Madron Facts and Antiquities.
Monday 17th 2.30pm – Penzance walk exploring the old water supply.
Monday 17th 2pm – Sand & Smuggling: Coast between Fowey and Polperro.
Tuesday 18th 10am – Goonhilly
Wednesday 19th 10.30am – Looe
Thursday 20th 7pm – Cury Cross Lanes
Friday 21st 10am – Kynance Gate Stone Hut Circle Settlement and Field System.
Friday 21st 10.30am – Hayle A walk around Millpond Gardens.
Friday 21st 1.30pm – Something a little different! A virtual guided walk around St Ives.
Saturday 22nd – 10am – Par and St Blazey Industrial History Walk.
Saturday 22nd – 1.30pm – Tracing the Tidal Estuary around Par.
Sunday 23rd June 10 am – Liskeard – Every Building Tells a Story (Bilingual Walk).
Monday 24th June 10.30am – Nanpean
Tuesday 25th 11am – “Georgian Looe”
Wednesday 26th June 5pm – Treneere Manor house, now part of Penwith College.
Wednesday 26th June 6.30pm – Roche
Thursday 27th June 10.30am – St Austell Town Walk
Sunday 30th June 11 am – St Agnes – The Friendly Retreat


There is some real innovation amongst these, including a virtual walk, and a bilingual walkbwhich links in with Speak Cornish Week. Well, done to those OCSs which have organised these, it really demonstrates our commitment to explore and value our historic landscapes.

The challenge now is to see how many can be completed by an individual! Let us know how many you completed.
