In a surprise announcement at the Callington Portreeve Choosing Ceremony, outgoing Portreeve Peter Watson made a donation to the Callington Old Cornwall Society from the remaining contents of his Charity Community Chest. The money is specifically for a way in which Callington OCS can mark the 2024 Gorsedh coming to Callington and will be something that, when people see it, they will remember this year’s Gorsedh and the huge part that Callington OCS has had in the organisation.
It is not for use as a general top up to help cover the Gorsedh costs, but for something special celebrating this year. Members have been asked for their suggestions and it will be their decision. So far planting trees, a blue Peoples Plaque, and a mural to add to the famous Callington Mural Trail, have all been suggested but if you have any ideas how we might mark the occasion, please let the sec of COCS know on rillaton@gmail.com

Portreeve Peter Watson was there when COCS took their new banner out for the first time at the Gorsedh Proclamation and the photo shows him with the Callington Banner Bearer, Robin West. We would like to thank him for his generosity.
