Description:  ‘ The Trevithick Society published John Corin’s Levant... in 1992.   …Its continued popularity is proof of its abiding value, both as a guide and popular history.

John’s book appeared at just the right time. The only other history of Levant, by Cyril Noall, was by then scarce and expensive; furthermore it was much stronger on the mine’s early history than more recent events.Crucially a number of volunteers were also beginning to see how the site at Levant might be made more accessible and intersting to visitors.  So, successive editions of ‘Corin’ recorded the visual restoration of the preserved whim engine, the restoration of the boiler house and the engine’s return to steam.’ (Introduction).

This latest rendering has been edited and expanded by Peter Joseph, with contributions from Kenneth Brown, Milton Thomas, Ron Flaxman, and Norman Lackford.
